Sometime ago… one, two, three years ago? I challenged @Fitz to a karaoke battle, of sorts, on what was known as Utterz dot com back then (now its utterli but its having issues). Cool twitter-like site where you can upload video and sound and it had a nifty idea behind it.

Well, really I was being silly and I just wanted to make a fool of myself by singing stuff…

I wanted to make up a song and the first thing that came to mind was a parody of Puttin on the Ritz called Puttin up with Fitz. Unfortunately, it came off as an insult, which I quickly fixed (I hope I did) because it wasn’t so at all. It goes with the parody.

At the time @leahjones was featured on a news story in the Chicago Tribune, and we were in the midst of tweetups and lunches with twitter pals (@1god). @BleuCaldwell was setting up some meetups or something through twitter at the time too, I think.

@gar_cia and @ceelos would also complain about a stinky coworker (not @Fitz) that would poop and not properly flush, along with other even more gross things he would do.

My sister had just joined twitter and I joked that her handle @yeseningles was one word but I really knew it was Yes en ingles (Yes in English). I think that properly tells all the inside jokes…

Oh no… Prima Nalgotas… @gar_cia‘s cousin was dubbed Prima Nalgotas and we would, from time to time, ask where she is on twitter “Donde estas Prima Nalgotas?”

For your enjoyment:

So I was sitting, watching ABC7 Chicago News between 10 pm and 10:30 pm specifically because @jerrytaft the weatherdude extraordinaire on my local ABC station said there would be a twitter-related story. Turns out it was the one @jennydecki was interviewed for earlier and I almost was interviewed for. I was almost on the news… and yet I was on the news. Check it out here!

Yes, my twitter page got some exposure as they splashed it on the screen for a few seconds. Funny enough, the latest tweet was about the Lambada. The real stars were Jenny and @leahjones, twelebrities… A couple of people I should meet were also featured.

I was fortunate enough to attend a party with author/writer/awesome person Amy Guth, sponsored by Method and I had a blast! It was partially the fact that I was basically the only man and a handful of beautiful women. That was a plus. Add to that, <a href="http://twitter.com/theliquidmuse" "target="_blank">@TheLiquidMuse running a little alcohol mixer class where we learned how to make several drinks, one of which was an awesome cucumber infused mohito. You can check her blog out at http://theliquidmuse.com. The pictures and the party itself was run by <a href="http://twitter.com/Syro228" "target="_blank">@Syro228. The place was great and the appetizers were divine. <a href="http://twitter.com/leahjones" "target="_blank">@leahjones and <a href="http://twitter.com/iteachcomputers" "target="_blank">@iteachcomputers attended this party as well as others.

Aside the wonderful people I met, the bartending class that happened, some other highlights were the photobooth and gift bag we received at the end of the party. Yes, swag!!! I’ve tried out their non-toxic cleaning products and they smell and handle nicely. I will be converting the family as soon as possible, those chemicals they use when cleaning definitely is not good for us. Seems like their tactics worked on me lol.

This is just another perk of twitter and the contacts I am making on it. Score another point for social media!

Here I go again, opening my not-so-big-mouth and getting myself more work. I am one of a trio of people currently working on the next Twitter-inspired social media experiment.

You heard right, it is a dating site, of sorts. See my Twitter life, as short as it has been, has been very fruitful. I’ve avoided adding people myself, and most of them have for one reason or another added me first. Leah Jones is one such woman.

Leah is a blogger, and on Twitter and other social sites. Recently, one of her tweets was about her friend, trying to set him up on a date. Ten days ago… She then continued by reinforcing how serious she was that same night. A few days later, she updated us on her successful possible matchmaking. This is where I come in. I engage her by asking how much her matchmaking services are, then mention how a leahjonesdating site would solve all those problems. This quickly grew to what it almost is now. I say that because it is and will be a work in progress for a while.

Currently, you can see a splash logo/page here http://atleahjones.com that Ezra Butler, from Jerusalem, one of Leah’s many friends/contacts, created. He is working on the design. I am working on the guts/tech, and Leah will be the pretty face to this project. She will also take the biggest role by seriously interviewing her friends first, then slowly adding others, by blogging about them and giving them her seal of approval. Leah will be featuring people from all walks of life, it won’t be a set type, I mean, I will probably definitely be showcased. We’re working out the kinks on how to handle communications, but as I said, work in progress.

Leah’s recent blog post is about this and is called Building a Better Dating Site. I think giving it the personal touch Leah will be giving, is the secret to building a better dating site. I’ve had to learn how to set up an image map to link our Twitter accounts on the existing splash page. I also had to figure out how to set up an email relay to work with the blog. Since I am hosting it. I may end up moving it though.
